Do you prescribe medications?

Yes, I can. I have a DEA license and license to write prescriptions to clients in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Though I can prescribe medication, it is not part of every client’s treatment (less than one-third of my clients is typical). I am judicious and conservative in my use of pharmaceuticals. Are you a doctor or a therapist or ????

I am not a medical doctor—I am an advanced practice nurse specializing in mental health. I am board certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (also known as A.R.T. or ART depending on your fancy) is an evidence-based mental health treatment that I offer at Conscious Practice. It is most commonly known for use with processing trauma and distressing memories. Beyond PTSD, ART can also be used therapeutically to provide relief for people with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, catastrophic thinking, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, prenatal/postpartum depression, prenatal/postpartum anxiety, burnout, vicarious trauma, spiritual or existential problems, and various other issues. Learn more about A.R.T. here and in my blog here.

How many ART sessions will I need?

Clients who are only seeking discrete ART trauma processing sessions complete an intake and then typically 1-4 ART sessions total. These sessions can be consecutive or nonconsecutive, with or without integration sessions based on each client’s preferences and needs. For the stats nerds: Data from November 2019 and July 2022 at Conscious Practice indicated: mean 2.3, median 2, mode 1, and range 1 to 5.

Who do you work with?

I work with individual adults over the age of 18 who are freely and independently desiring treatment. I do not work with children or adolescents at this practice. I welcome people of all racial-ethnic identities, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, body sizes, occupations, religious backgrounds, and belief systems to my practice.
